The eighth annual Garden State Film Festival has issued a worldwide “Call for Entries” from independent filmmakers according to Diane Raver, Co-Founder/Executive Director. The deadline for submissions is December 1, 2009. Filmmakers wishing to submit their films for consideration should refer to the festival web site at www.gsff.org for instructions and further information.
The 2010 Festival returns to the Paramount Theater On-the-Boardwalk in Asbury Park, New Jersey, March 25-28, and will feature film competition for independent filmmakers, open talent casting call, panel discussions, children’s workshops, and opening and closing ceremonies. Professional judges will select winning films in a number of categories, including best Feature Length, Short , Documentary, Music Video , PSA and commercial. This year they have added a new category for trailers.
“Based on the number of films we have received thus far, we are on track to receive our highest number of entries ever. This is very exciting for us because it ensures that we will once again be able showcase films of the highest quality in production value as well as content,” stated Ms. Raver.
The Garden State Film Festival (GSFF) was the first festival to create a new music category. To date, this is the first time an independent film festival has recognized the role music plays in the cinematic arts by holding a competition for movie music tracks based on their own merit.
“We created the Movie Music category in recognition of the role movie music plays in the cinematic arts. Keeping with our belief that our home of Asbury Park, NJ represents a crossroads of the film and music industries,” we feel it is important to include the people behind the music with the filmmakers.” states Raver.
The GSFF invites all music creatives who have written and produced tracks for independent films to be recognized for the part they play in the production of fine films. Filmmakers are invited to submit (on CD format) any movie music from an independent film in any category that will be judged by music industry professionals in the new category, dubbed the GSFF Movie Music Track Competition. The winners of the competition will be recognized at The GSFF Black Tie Awards Dinner held on April 6, 2008 in Asbury Park, NJ. Information about the Movie Music Track Competition is also on the web site at www.gsff.org
