first spray paint a canvas gold, then mix up some violet oil paint with a little paint thinner, dammar varnish and japan drier (which makes the oil paint dry fast)  (in a well ventilated room!) then brush on a few layers, sloppily with artistic gusto, then 'draw' with cottom swabs! when the paint drys paint another layer over and work on that. Oil glazes are like transparant layers!
