New Multi-Disciplinary GLBT Artists Festival announces calls for submissions and auditions for Closing Day
"Juried" Festival selections with audition/portfolio review
The new Philadelphia-Mid Atlantic GLBT Artists Festival seeks to promote the career advancement of Gay, Lesbian, Bi and Trans Artists that are emerging, yet professional and need career development assistance and that have a desire to be showcased in a large scale regional festival. The festival is multi-disciplinary, showcasing all areas of the Performing, Creative, and Fine Arts.
The festival is seeking submissions and auditions for its closing day, which is "Straight Ally Day". This is where the featured and supportive GLBT Artists will join hands with emerging, mid-career Non-GLBT Artists as one in celebration of the Arts.
The festival is a production of TAP: Traverse Arts Project, a new non-profit, 501(c)3 organization in Philadelphia. The first annual festival is scheduled for May 28-31, 2009 in Philadelphia, and seeks to present Musical, Physical, Dramatic, Cinema, and Theater artists from PA, NJ, NY,CT, DE, MD, DC and VA. Featured and Supportive Artists will receive compensation packages.
Compensation packages will include cash stipends, partial underwriting of professional development opportunities, membership in the mainstream professional organization relative to your field of the Arts, membership in an Arts service organization that offers access to Health Care Plans, development and mailings of media kits, and other fantastic opportunities. The deadline for submissions is January 10, 2009.
