TEEN ARTS FESTIVAL
For those schools who have not participated in recent years or ever before, the Monmouth Arts Teen Arts Festival happens over two consecutive days in mid-March (March 17 & 18, 2022). We invite all teens ages 13-19 to experience professional critiques in their artistic disciplines, fun and interactive cross-disciplinary workshops, peer performances, and exhibitions. We provide a welcoming environment for students to showcase their skills and hear valuable critiques from professional artists.
We welcome high schools, middle schools, home-schooled students, art/music studios, and dance schools to participate. If your school does not sign up, individual teens can register with the help of their parents (if under 18 years old).
As you may already know, Monmouth Arts is in the midst of celebrating our 50th anniversary, which means that Monmouth Arts has been celebrating the arts in Monmouth County for 50 years! We would never have made it this far without the support of our vibrant arts community, and the community of youth that have been participating in the Teen Arts Festival throughout the decades - and that is why we are excited that the theme for this year's festival is just that: COMMUNITY!

The festival will feature workshops with content based around the theme of Community, and I hope that many of your students will prepare work for the festival that is encompassing of the theme as well (although, not required). Of course, you are in no way obligated to use this theme in order to participate. The theme serves as a useful tool for some teachers, who develop curricula around the concept. There will be several workshops and a group exhibition that utilize the theme during the festival, but again, there is no obligation to use this theme in order to participate.
This year, Monmouth Arts will once again be partnering with Brookdale Community College, and the festival will be held on March 17 + 18, 2022 on Brookdale's Lincroft campus, during their Spring Break week.
COVID-19 SAFETY GUIDELINES
To ensure the safety of all festival participants and staff at the Monmouth Arts Teen Arts Festival, we will have strict guidelines in place with regard to the ongoing pandemic.
-
Masks will be required for all festival participants, including students, teachers, chaperones, and festival staff/faculty at all times.
-
We understand there might be particular circumstances where a student may not be able to wear a mask (specifically, with regard to playing an instrument or other on-stage performance) and those instances will be reviewed on a case by case basis.
-
-
Monmouth Arts will not require Proof of Vaccination or Covid-19 testing, however, we do strongly encourage that students, teachers, and chaperones in attendance be vaccinated or have been recently tested for COVID-19 (and of course, received a negative result).
-
Monmouth Arts will require that all festival staff and faculty (including Monmouth Arts staff, volunteers, adjudicators, and teaching artists) be vaccinated against COVID-19, and we will ask those individuals to provide proof of vaccination prior to the event in an effort to ensure the safety of our students and Teen Arts community.
-
Monmouth Arts will make an effort to schedule adjudications and workshops in spaces with plenty of room for distancing, and will limit capacity of all festival spaces to 50%. Additionally, we will be encouraging participants to practice social distancing wherever possible.
-
Hand sanitizing stations will be available for use across the Brookdale campus throughout the festival.
If you have questions regarding the COVID-19 guidelines that will be in place for this year's Monmouth Arts Teen Arts Festival, you can contact Sandy Riddle, Arts Education & Events Manager, at events@monmoutharts.org.
