SIGNS OF HOPE
Signs of Hope is a comprehensive youth arts program in collaboration with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Monmouth County and the YMCA of Freehold Borough. The program includes visual and performing arts instruction, activities, and projects, with family events that celebrate the students' successes. A primary component of the program is the actual "Signs of Hope," where students are given the opportunity to design and create street signs with positive messages for their community. The program started in the spring of 2018 at the Boys & Girls Club's Asbury Park location, with generous support from the Mary Owen Borden Foundation. After the program’s initial success, additional funding from the Monmouth County Board of County Commissioners, the Provident Bank Foundation, First Energy, Investors Bank, and Whole Foods helped expand Signs of Hope to the Boys & Girls Club in Red Bank and the Freehold Borough YMCA.
For Summer 2021, the Signs of Hope program has gone virtual! As part of the virtual program, we created packets of summer arts activities for the students. The packets (inspired by those created by the Zimmerli Art Museum at Rutgers) include activities from the Zimmerli as well as some of our local community arts partners, such as Wooden Walls and Two River Theater.
