Mixing and Mingling at Out of the Blue
By Margaret Goddard
The Out of the Blue opening reception on November 7th was a night of celebrating local artists and meeting fresh faces. This is an exhibit of Monmouth Arts members, an opportunity to show their art and ideas to the public and to meet other members. All of the artwork is for sale (there are some great potential holiday gifts!) and is available until the show closes, January 24, 2020.
Five artists spoke at the reception: Judi Tavill, Megan Gray, Louis Ardine, Douglas Smith and Jim T. Donovan. Artists brought their friends and family, making up a crowd of about 150 attendees, including all the art enthusiasts, members of the community, and press who came out too. Refreshments were provided by the Bungalow Hotel. Bombay River in Red Bank catered. The super talented Cara Introcaso lent her voice and acoustics. Thank you to everyone for contributing and making this night a big success.
The show includes ceramics, oil paintings, watercolor, acrylic, encaustic, digital illustration, photography, fabrics, even billboard and walnuts (you heard that right). There are abstract depictions of emotions and there are figures and faces. Out of the Blue has both surprising juxtapositions and pairings that just seem destined to be together.
We have another event coming up where artists, members, and friends can come together in the holiday spirit and enjoy the art, so mark your calendar for Dec. 12!
